On this earth of a variety of beings,species,germs,worms,animals, only human-being is blessed with an extraordinary intellect having multiple intelligences with which he can win/achieve the realms/kingdoms he likes to achieve.But it can happen only when the right actions (dharma) are performed by living a virtuous life of Truth,Love,Contentment,Humility & Compassion and not by indulging in vices like greed,lust,anger,attachment & Ego_but unfortunately, vice being more attractive & alluring than virtue,the poor & ignorant human beings are caught in its trap & in their madness forget their basic values & virtues with which they came into this world-the paradise the original basic purpose is lost-the way to the Home is lost & there is no connection between the lost traveller/False Self & the Home/Higher self.







The result is Negativity all around,the Suffering,the hurt the pain & sorrow.Crowded with clutter is the world,running in hurry &worry,hustle &bustle & crowded is the mind;In this noise,the inner voice is not heard_ & the mind has lost its real kingdom & its Power to discern & distinguish between real & unreal, between truth & untruth,between virtuous & the virtual,between Real & False Self.



The Journey Home has many rungs/steps;It will not be a sudden change.It’ll be step by step conscious effort.It will start by removing the cobwebs of ignorance,by searching from within,by igniting the mind,awakening the mind from its deep slumber & doing righteous action (dharma);this is the first step.

And our Fulfilment & Completeness is only as a part of the whole –the whole Creation.

The moment we understand this by digging ourselves deep within (as this knowledge is within us only), we are elevated – we become one with the Universe, the Creation, the Skies, the Oceans.

When this Self-realization happens intuitively, we feel ecstatic, joyful, freely flying like a bird yet humble like an ant.

We wonder at the Perfect Plan & how the things are going on with such a precision & perfection inspite of all the imperfections of all things.

We need to understand that all things move according to law and order and that we are all akin and Universe is our home.Some rule or law or discipline (Dharma) is holding all the diverse energies together - compassion, love, kindness and patience are the attributes which act as the binding forces to bind the entire humanity.

Surrender, in fact, is the higher level of self -esteem where our faith and belief in ourselves, our being as part of the One Universe leads us from knowledge to wisdom; it is the Self realisation that I ,as this body, have nothing which, I can say is mine, which is permanently going to be with me, which I can surrender because everything I have including my body is temporary.So how can I surrender? & What to surrender then?

This mantra, “mannai surat hovai man budh” inspires us to experience that higher level of self - esteem and self belief.

ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸਾਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਨੁ ਖੇਹ ॥ 
Gāvai ko sāj kare ṯan kẖeh. 
Some sing that He fashions the body, and then again reduces it to dust.

ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਜੀਅ ਲੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੇਹ ॥ 
Gāvai ko jī▫a lai fir ḏeh. 
Some sing that He takes life away, and then again restores it.

ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ 
Gāvai ko jāpai ḏisai ḏūr. 
Some sing that He seems so very far away.

ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਾਦਰਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥ 
Gāvai ko vekẖai hāḏrā haḏūr. 
Some sing that He watches over us, face to face, ever-present.

ਕਥਨਾ ਕਥੀ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤੋਟਿ ॥ 
Kathnā kathī na āvai ṯot. 
There is no shortage of those who preach and teach.

ਕਥਿ ਕਥਿ ਕਥੀ ਕੋਟੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ॥ 
Kath kath kathī kotī kot kot. 
Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories.

ਦੇਦਾ ਦੇ ਲੈਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ 
Ḏeḏā ḏe laiḏe thak pāhi. 
The Great Giver keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving.

ਜੁਗਾ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਖਾਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ 
Jugā juganṯar kẖāhī kẖāhi. 
Throughout the ages, consumers consume.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚਲਾਏ ਰਾਹੁ ॥ 
Hukmī hukam cẖalāe rāhu. 
The Commander, by His Command, leads us to walk on the Path.

ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੩॥ 
Nānak vigsai veparvāhu. 
O Nanak, He blossoms forth, Carefree and Untroubled. 


INSIGHT
This Mantra describes the endless and countless attributes of that Nirgun, invisible, invincible yet omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient creator of all of us – His power, His knowledge, His attributes, His gifts, blessings, are bountiful beyond description – He cannot be sung and described by anyone – He is the creator – He creates and destroys too and then restores life again. He is far, far away but so near. He is the sustainer and giver of everything and we get weary of receiving. Everything is happening and working according to His Hukam/Order and Will. He – the Supreme Almighty who is the Creator of the whole Creation yet He, who is detached and beyond any bondage of attachment, rejoices at His Creation. And its part of all us.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਆਕਾਰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
Hukmī hovan ākār hukam na kahiā jāī. 
By His Command, bodies are created; His Command cannot be described.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਜੀਅ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Hukmī hovan jīa hukam milai vadiāī.
By His Command, souls come into being; by His Command, glory and greatness are obtained.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਉਤਮੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ॥
Hukmī uṯam nīcẖ hukam likẖ ḏukẖ sukẖ pāīah.
By His Command, some are high and some are low; by His Written Command, pain and pleasure are obtained.

ਇਕਨਾ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਇਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ॥
Iknā hukmī bakẖsīs ik hukmī saḏā bẖavāīah.
Some, by His Command, are blessed and forgiven; others, by His Command, wander aimlessly forever.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹੁਕਮ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Hukmai anḏar sabẖ ko bāhar hukam na koe.
Everyone is subject to His Command; no one is beyond His Command.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਜੇ ਬੁਝੈ ਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
Nānak hukmai je bujẖai ṯa haumai kahai na koe. ||2||
O Nanak, one who understands His Command, does not speak in ego. ||2||

MANTRA & MEANING 
ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਚਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ॥
Socẖai socẖ na hovaī je socẖī lakẖ vār.
By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times.

ਚੁਪੈ ਚੁਪ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਲਾਇ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥
Cẖupai cẖup na hovaī je lā▫e rahā liv ṯār.
By remaining silent, inner silence is not obtained, even by remaining lovingly absorbed deep within.

ਭੁਖਿਆ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੀ ਜੇ ਬੰਨਾ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਭਾਰ ॥
Bẖukẖiā bẖukẖ na uṯrī je bannā purīā bẖār.
The hunger of the hungry is not appeased, even by piling up loads of worldly goods.

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਤ ਇਕ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
Sahas siāṇpā lakẖ hohi ṯa ik na cẖalai nāl.
Hundreds of thousands of clever tricks, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end.

ਕਿਵ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਿਵ ਕੂੜੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਪਾਲਿ ॥
Kiv sacẖiārā hoīai kiv kūrhai ṯutai pāl.
So how can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away?

ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
Hukam rajāī cẖalṇā Nānak likẖiā nāl. 
O Nanak, it is written that you shall obey the Hukam of His Command, and walk in the Way of His Will.

UNDERSTANDING

There is only one source, one creator of everything in this Universe. This universe originated from that one source. We all, infact everything we see, hear, touch, feel , every being, every grain of sand has originated from that one source. We all came from that one creator and we all are part of it. Thats the only truth. We all have that ‘Ik Onkaar’ within us. That ‘Ik Onkaar’ is devoid of any fear, any enmity. It is beyond time and yet existing, who is beyond birth and death. We all have ‘Ik Onkaar’ within us. All we have to do is to look inside. Thats our true self. The our Mool. Meditate upon it and Chant along.
